Multiple Sclerosis
What is Multiple Sclerosis?
Multiple Sclerosis ( MS) is a chronic neurologic condition in which the body attacks the central nervous system ( your brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves). This attack causes inflammation to the fatty sheath around your nerves called myelin. Once the myelin is damaged, the messages within the central nervous system are altered or stopped completely. The cause of MS is unknown, but genetics as well as environmental factors are thought to contribute.
